Young Maiden's Daybook - December 28

Today…
December 28, 2009

Outside my window…

The sun is shining very brightly in a slightly cloudy sky.

I am thinking…
Of the Lord's wonderful patience and grace.
I read this morning:
"And therefore will the LORD wait,
that he may be gracious unto you,
and therefore will he be exalted,
that he may have mercy upon you:
for the LORD is a God of judgment:
blessed are all they that wait for him."
Isaiah 30:18

I am thankful…
For such a wonderful year I had,
growing in the Lord, learning new lessons,
and all of the great times I had.

I am wearing...
Blue knit skirt and red floral 3/4 sleeve shirt.

I am reading…
2 Chronicles, Proverbs, Ezekiel, Mark;
"Fascinating Truths" by James Knox
"The Lost Cause Series" by James Knox
"Do Hard Things" by Alex and Brett Harris
"Choosing Gratitude" by Nancy Leigh DeMoss with Mama ;o)
"Passionate Housewives Desperate For God"
by Jennie Chancey & Stacy McDonald

I am creating…

A full band arrangement for the song I just finished writing,
more steel guitar arrangements for our cd coming up,
a wool shawl (I should finish this week!),
and a list of things to make for
my etsy shop.

One of my favorite things…
A nice, hot, bubbly bath! How refreshing and relaxing!

For education this week…

"homecollege" a.k.a Daughter at Home University =)
I'm looking at different mission boards and
planning to study for their requirements.
I'm going to start studying nursing/medical skills,
as I'm really starting to get ready for the mission field.
Really studying more about doctrine.

A keeper at home skill I am learning/using...
Budgeting... having self-control!!! (I splurged this week :-0 )
Remembering "If I live like no one else now,
than later I can live like no one else".

A spiritual lesson I'm learning...
To be content with where the Lord has put me,
even if I my convictions differ from those around me.
And to really have grace with those who do differ,
and not to be judgmental.

A godly character trait I plan to work on…
Staying in prayer and more Bible studying.

Scripture I am memorizing…
"Who can find a virtuous woman?
for her price is far above rubies.
The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her,
so that he shall have no need of spoil.
She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
She seeketh wool, and flax,
and worketh willingly with her hands...
She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household,
and a portion to her maidens.
She considereth a field, and buyeth it:
with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms."
Proverbs 31:10-17 with my online friend.
In fact, since we're memorizing most of Proverbs 31 together,
I'm planning on writing it out on my wall like I did when I
was memorizing 1 Corinthians 13 about Charity. Ü

I'm praying for…
The Lord's guidance through my life.
That He would show me His Truths from His Word,
and help me to be forgiving and have grace toward others.
The Lord to bless and to grow our church.
Also praying that He sends more missionaries to
the much needed country of Greece and the rest of the world.

For the rest of the week…
Sadly putting away the Christmas decorations;
getting ready for the New Year; making some resolutions;
getting a new dishwasher put in today;
recording and posting the song I finished writing;
composing more steel guitar arrangements;
responding to some letters, comments and email
s;
spend extra time with my wonderful Savior;
and whatever else the Lord sees fit to send my way.

A picture I'm sharing...
Stephani and I boxing eachother on the wii.
(Our family Christmas gift!)

The wii sure gives you a workout!!

Have a great week!

Young Maiden's Daybook - December 21

Today…
December 21, 2009

Outside my window…

The sun is shining bright on the 1st day of winter!

I am thinking…
Of how much I need to get done before Friday!
So much to do, so little time Ü.

I am thankful…
For the Lord's longsuffering with us.
And that He takes the time to speak to us
and gently draws us close to Him.

I am wearing...
Pink "60's style" flower dress.

I am reading…
2 Chronicles, Proverbs, Ezekiel, Mark;
"Fascinating Truths" by James Knox
"The Lost Cause Series" by James Knox
"Do Hard Things" by Alex and Brett Harris
"Choosing Gratitude" by Nancy Leigh DeMoss with Mama ;o)
"Passionate Housewives Desperate For God"
by Jennie Chancey & Stacy McDonald

I am creating…

a wool shawl (I finally got more yarn!),
homemade Christmas gifts for my immediate family,
and a list of things to make for
my etsy shop.

One of my favorite things…
Christmastime!!! I'm so glad that it's here again!
Christmas lights, trees, nativity scenes, eggnog... ah!

For education this week…

"homecollege" a.k.a Daughter at Home University =)
I'm looking at different mission boards and
planning to study for their requirements.
I'm going to start studying nursing/medical skills,

A keeper at home skill I am learning/using...
Budgeting... having self-control!!!
Remembering "If I live like no one else now,
than later I can live like no one else".

A spiritual lesson I'm learning...
That I should feed myself spiritually more than physically.
In fact, I'm thinking of committing myself to being sure
to read God's Word every time I eat food... or atleast as often as.

A godly character trait I plan to work on…
Staying in prayer and more Bible studying.

Scripture I am memorizing…
"Who can find a virtuous woman?
for her price is far above rubies.
The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her,
so that he shall have no need of spoil.

For the rest of the week…
Getting ready for my favorite holiday!!;
our Hot Chocolate service on Wednesday;
preparing for Youth Night next Sunday;
hopefully getting a new dishwasher put in;
getting some more Christmas gifts done (quickly!);
composing more steel guitar arrangements;
responding to some letters, comments and email
s;
spend extra time with my wonderful Savior;
and whatever else the Lord sees fit to send my way.

A picture I’d like to share...

The lovely, cozy scarf my Gramma crocheted me for Christmas...

It's so soft and I love it a lot. Thanks Gramma!!

Have a great week!

Delicious Eggnog

I'm always excited come the holidays,
since one of my favorite drinks is "in season" Ü.
This year I thought I'd try homemade eggnog before I bought some,
and now I don't think I'll ever need to buy any again!
This recipe I got from "Better Homes & Gardens"
is even better than store bought!!

I thought I'd share the recipe:

EGGNOG
6 Beaten eggs
2 1/4 Cups Milk
1/3 Cup Sugar
1 Tsp Vanilla
1 Cup Whipping Cream
2 TBSP Sugar
Ground Nutmeg

In a large heavy saucepan mix eggs, milk, & 1/3 cup sugar.
Cook and stir over medium heat till mixture coats a metal spoon.
Remove from heat.
Cool quickly by placing pan in a sink or bowl
of ice water and stirring 1-2 minutes.
Stir in vanilla. Chill 4-24 hours.
(I ADDED SOME CHOCOLATE SYRUP BEFORE CHILLING)

Right before serving, in a bowl whip cream and 2 TBSP sugar until soft peaks form.

Fold cream mixture into eggnog. Sprinkle each serving with nutmeg.

ENJOY!!!

but we're out of half and half :-(
Maybe some yummy black coffee Ü

I am thankful…
That all of the lovely Christmas decorations are up
and it's the most wonderful time of the year!!!

Selling My Christmas CD!

Well, I have just listed my Piano Christmas CD on my Etsy shop.
I thought I'd make an announcement and lead anyone to it that might be interested in it.
It's nothing real fancy, just some simple arrangements that I wrote,
of well-known favorite Christmas songs. Ü Ü Ü Ü

Young Maiden's Daybook - December 7

Today…
December 7, 2009

Outside my window…

The sun is shining so brightly high in the sky.

I am thinking…
Of the great song "In The Presence of Jehovah".

In and out of situations, a tug-of-war at me;
All day long I struggle for answers that I need.
But then I come into Thy presence
And all my questions become clear;
And for a sacred moment no doubts can interfere
.

In the presence of Jehovah, God Almighty, Prince of Peace.

Troubles vanish, hearts are melted; In the presence of the King.

Through His love the Lord provided a place for us to rest;
A place to find the answer in hours of distress.
Now, there is never any reason for you to give up in despair,
Just say a prayer and breathe His name;
He will come and meet you there.

I am thankful…
That all of the lovely Christmas decorations are up
and it's the most wonderful time of the year!!!

I am wearing...
Jean skirt and Zaxby's "Nuclear" t-shirt.
(just staying home today and wanna be comfy)

I am reading…
2 Chronicles, Proverbs, Ezekiel, Mark;
"Fascinating Truths" by James Knox
"The Lost Cause Series" by James Knox
"Do Hard Things" by Alex and Brett Harris
"Choosing Gratitude" by Nancy Leigh DeMoss with Mama ;o)
"Passionate Housewives Desperate For God"
by Jennie Chancey & Stacy McDonald

I am creating…

A lesson to teach for our Keepers of the Faith group Friday,
a wool shawl (when I get more yarn),
homemade Christmas gifts for my immediate family,
and a list of things to make for
my etsy shop.

One of my favorite things…
Having spiritual conversations with my mom.
I love having someone to talk to
as a sister in Christ, as well as a Mother;
sharing the things the Lord is teaching us
and encouraging one another.

For education this week…

"homecollege" a.k.a Daughter at Home University =)
I'm looking at different mission boards and
planning to study for their requirements.
I'm going to start studying nursing/medical skills,
as I'm praying about preparing for medical mission work.

A keeper at home skill I am learning/using...
Budgeting... ah!! It's more fun doing it with 'pretend' money
in your high school Economics book than with your own!!

A spiritual lesson I'm learning...
That not everyone has the same convictions I do,
and I need to have an active grace with those who differ.

A godly character trait I plan to work on…
Honoring parents (not just obeying)...
boy, is that more difficult the older you get!

Scripture I am memorizing…
"Let no man despise thy youth;
but be thou an example of the believers,
in word, in conversation, in charity,
in spirit, in faith, in purity."
2 Timothy 4:12 with my online friend

I'm praying for…
The Lord's guidance through my life.
That He would show me His truths from His Word,
and help me to be forgiving and have grace toward others.
The Lord to bless and to grow our church.
Also praying that He sends more missionaries to
the much needed country of Greece and the rest of the world.
Also for my grieving family as we just lost
my great aunt this morning to liver/pancreas cancer.

For the rest of the week…
Going to W*l-M*rt for fabric & yarn (or Micheal's);
keeping up the house; a trip to the chiropractor (hopefully);
sending out Christmas gifts to family;
planing a lesson for the Keepers of the Faith group;
working on instrument arrangements;
responding to some letters, comments and email
s;
spend extra time with my wonderful Savior;
and whatever else the Lord sees fit to send my way.

A Finished Christmas Gift...

I just recently finished my cross-stitching
project I was making for my friend for Christmas.
I thought I'd share a photo...

I got the quote from something I saw in a catalog,

and combined different patterns from some cross-stitch books we have.
It says:
"I don't think it just by chance, but by God's grand design;
that He has guided both our steps... to let your path cross mine."

I thought it a very fitting quote for our friendship,

as we constantly talk about how the Lord must have really planned
out our friendship, seeing we've been together 8 years
and our dads (being in the military) always get stationed at the same places!

Speaking of us, (as a side note)...

On Monday, we went around base inviting people to
our church's upcoming Pig Pickin' service.

Mom got a picture of us at one of the houses...

We had a lovely time together, walking and knocking on doors (3 hours),
and even stopped at the store for a nice cool treat Ü.
It's so great being able to do the Lord's work together.

"Two are better than one; because they
have a good reward for their labour.
For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow:
but woe to him that is alone when he falleth;
for he hath not another to help him up."
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
