Young Maiden's Daybook - September 28

Today…

September 28, 2009

(The last week in September!!!)

O
utside my window…

The sun is shining brightly,

and the weather is getting cooler!!

I
am thinking…

Of what new crochet project I should make.

I
am thankful…

For encouragement from God's House.

I'm so thankful that we can be refreshed by the
word of God and the preaching from the pulpit.

I
am wearing...

My brown fall-print dress.

I am reading…

2 Chronicles, Psalms, Proverbs, Ezekiel, Matthew;
"A Heart For God" by Dr.Paul Chapel
"Waiting For Her Issac"

"Do Hard Things" by Alex and Brett Harris

I
am creating…

A Christmas list of what to do this year.

(I like going all out for the holidays!)

O
ne of my favorite things…

That we can KNOW we are saved,

and not have to live in doubt and fear
of going one sin too far! I'm covered by the blood!

F
or education this week…

"homecollege" a.k.a Daughter at Home University =)
preparing to be a Keeper at Home, for the mission field,
and studying Bibliography, Theology, & Christology.
Also getting fluent in Modern Greek.

Also hoping to study more advanced chemistry on the side =)

A keeper at home skill I am using/learning...

Not being excessivly sleepy and getting up to my alarm clock.
(which is difficult with having CFS)

A
spiritual lesson I'm learning...

Submission to those in authority...
it does get harder (yet even more essential)
when in the stages of young adulthood!

A godly character trait I plan to work on…

Being truly content with the situations the Lord has put me in.

S
cripture I am memorizing…

I'm hoping to start memorizing 1 John 3.

I
'm praying for…

The Lord's guidance through my life,

as well as a person I plan to continue witnessing to
and invite to church the next time I see them.

F
or the rest of the week…

Keeping up the house; park day Friday,
busy crocheting and preparing for Christams gifts,
getting around to posting,
respond to some comments and emails,
spend extra time with my wonderful Savior,
and whatever else the Lord sees fit to send my way.

A
picture I’d like to share...

The beach in the evening before a tropical storm last year...

(I added one of my favorite verses that I always
remember particularly on the beach.)

"How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God!
how great is the sum of them! If I should count them,
they are more in number than the sand:
when I awake, I am still with thee." Psalms 139:17-18

Have a great week!

I

How privileged we are to be talked to by
God Almighty, yet we often take so light of it.

Another Autumn Beach Trip...

Oh! I love living only 15 minutes from the beach!
It's the best time of the year to go,
especially early in the morning when it's colder.
The tide was very high and the waves were
monstrously big and made huge thunder-like crashes...

The children (and the moms too) enjoyed getting their feet wet...

While Stephani and I were content staying dry up on shore :)

After a while, the moms and the kids took
about a mile walk down the beach...

Stephani and I stayed and enjoyed resting and chatting,
as well as watching the cute birds coming by...

Mom took some photos at the pier they went to.
I love this one of Stephani's youngest sister with
the huge waves crashing in front of her...

Here are photos of my lovely siblings...

...Will, 11 yo

..Beth, 6 yo (7 in 3 weeks!)

...Carolynne, 5 yo

After a while, Stephani and I decided to get our feet a little
wet while waiting for them all to return.
There was an osprey flying above that we continually
waved to the man waving in the back of it :)

When everyone returned, we noticed how soaked everyone
else was, and we decided to go ahead and get wet ourselves...

It was actually very fun!
I usually don't like getting wet at the beach,
but the waves and water temp were perfect!
I'm sure loving it that summer is getting behind us!!!

Young Maiden's Daybook - September 14

Today…
September 14, 2009

Outside my window…
The sunshine is so bright,
the lovely birds are singing,
a noisy schoolbus is picking up kids,
and the weather is actually nice!!

I am thinking…
Of how delicious this oatmeal is!
It's my favorite breakfast.

I am thankful…
For the privilage to own different instruments,
and the ability to play them.
I've no idea sometimes what I'd do without them!

I am wearing...
Sleepytime attire ;-)
(as Mom calls it)

I am reading…
2 Chronicles, Psalms, Proverbs, Ezekiel, Mark, Titus;
"A Heart For God" by Dr.Paul Chapel
"Waiting For Her Issac"

I am creating…
The last 2 panels to an afghan I've been
working on for almost a year now.

One of my favorite things…
Cold weather... really can't wait until winter.

For education this week…
"homecollege" a.k.a Daughter at Home University =)
preparing to be a Keeper at Home, for the mission field,
and studying Bibliography, Theology, & Christology.
Also getting fluent in Modern Greek.

A keeper at home skill I am using/learning...
Not being excessivly sleepy and getting up to my alarm clock.
(which is kind of hard with having CFS!)

A spiritual lesson I'm learning...
Submission to those in authority...
it does get harder (yet even more essential)
when in the stages of young adulthood!

A godly character trait I plan to work on…
Making sure that I'm pleasing the Lord, not appeasing.

Scripture I am memorizing…
"But shun profane and vain babblings:
for they will increase unto more ungodliness."
2 Timothy 2:16

I'm praying for…
The Lord to bless our upcoming Revival.
And for wisdom in making life's descisions.

For the rest of the week…
Keeping up the house; hopefully getting into the doctor,
busy crocheting and preparing for my business,
preparing for Christams gifts,
getting around to posting something else besides a daybook post =),
respond to some comments and emails,
spend extra time with my wonderful Savior,
and whatever else the Lord sees fit to send my way.

A picture I’d like to share...
A photo I took of the moon in Michigan
and added one of my favorite verses to.

"When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers,
the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained:
what is man that thou art mindful of him;
and the son of man that thou visitest him?"
Psalms 8:3-4

Labor Day Weekend Trip...

On Labor Day weekend, Dad decided
to take us on a trip to a historic site from the Civil War.
I thought I'd share some pictures from our trip...

My personal favorite part was
looking at the different uniforms :)
...The Union

...The Confederate

Here is an old book...

We, then, went outside to the fort.
It consisted of hills that the Confederate soldiers built
to help with land combat and even hidden rooms in them...

We also enjoyed walking on a bridge by the marsh.
There were a lot of crabs ...
(we used to see these all the time back in SC)

Here are my precious siblings and me.... :)

And this was an interesting tree we enjoyed sitting in...
Daddy and Mama

At the store, my sisters each got a bonnet
and Will got 2 civil war caps.
On the way home, I wore one of his caps with him :-)

The weather was really nice
and that made the trip so enjoyable.
Will was particularly happy to go... he loooooves history!

Before closing this post, I wanted to share
a short video of me playing my steel guitar.
I haven't bought myself a book to learn with, yet,
but I did somewhat figure out "Sweet Hour of Prayer" on it!!

lol... I really need to get a book!

I hope you're all enjoying your week!

Musings of Mosquitoes...

As I was sitting down crocheting this evening,
I realized I was continually getting bit by a mosquito.
As it landed on my arm, I found it fascinating
to watch it's abdomen filling up with my blood.
Then I wondered... what do they even do with that blood?
So I reached behind me and grabbed an encyclopedia =)
What I found was actually pretty neat!
The females are the ones who suck blood from people & animals.
What attracts them is moisture, odor, or carbon dioxide (in breath).
The females need a blood meal in order to produce a batch of eggs.
They don't eat it... they eat flower nectar.
First, they stick their 'needle' into you and suck the blood up

through their 'tube' and into their abdomen.
Then they salivate (spit) on you with anticoagulants
(to prevent your blood from clotting),
which causes the area to redden and swell.

Isn't God's creation fascinating?
Even though these insects seem pesky to us,
the Lord still created them and cares for them.
What an amazing God we serve!

"Thou, even thou, art LORD alone; thou hast made heaven,
the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth,
and all things that are therein, the seas,
and all that is therein, and thou preservest them all;
and the host of heaven worshippeth thee."
Nehemiah 9:6

Young Maiden's Daybook - September 7

Today…
September 7, 2009

Outside my window…
Raining! And very gray and gloomy...
but there is sunshine in my soul :)

I am thinking…
Of how quickly this year has flown by!

Already September?!

I am thankful…

For the Lord's precious Word.

It's like cool, clear water in a desert!
So refreshing and encouraging to read.

I am wearing...
A blue skirt and blue turtleneck...
(which I may end up changing my shirt if it heats up!)

I am reading…
2 Chronicles, Psalms, Proverbs, Ezekiel, Mark, Titus;

"A Heart For God" by Dr.Paul Chapel

"Waiting For Her Issac"

I am creating…
Crocheted things to hopefully sell.

One of my favorite things…
A day spent with friends =)

For education this week…

"homecollege" a.k.a Daughter at Home University =)
preparing to be a Keeper at Home, for the mission field,
and studying Bibliography, Theology, & Christology.

Also getting fluent in Modern Greek.

A keeper at home skill I am using/learning...

Motherhood skills and interacting with children.

A spiritual lesson I'm learning...
That the Lord saw fit to give me life on this earth,
and if I spend my time for myself and my own desires
rather than His will, I've missed the whole purpose of being created.

A godly character trait I plan to work on…
Submission to those in authority...

I admit, it does get harder (yet even more essential)
when in the stages of young adulthood!

Scripture I am memorizing…
"But shun profane and vain babblings:

for they will increase unto more ungodliness."
2 Timothy 2:16

I'm praying for…
The Lord to bless our upcoming Revival.

For the rest of the week…
Keeping up the house; having company today,
busy crocheting and preparing for my business
as I hope to start soon; preparing for Christams gifts,
recording more of my piano arrangements onto cds,
getting around to posting something else besides a daybook post =),
respond to some comments and emails,
spend extra time with my wonderful Savior,
and whatever else the Lord sees fit to send my way.

A picture I’d like to share...
A picture of a mourning dove that was at our feeder last year.

(I really need to set out seeds so they will come back!)

Have a great week!

Beach Trip and Other Happenings...

Thankfully, summer is finally coming to an end
and we've gotten our first taste of fall this week!
Now it's in the 70s-80s... still kinda hot,
but much better than before!

Tuesday we decided to go to the beach for a while.
The weather was actually very nice at the ocean!

This is the first time we saw this...

The Marines drove right from the ocean
onto the shore in this! Very neat to watch!

The younger children enjoyed getting wet
and mom and I stayed by the shore as well...

... Will, Carolynne, & Beth

... Me

...Mom

Then we all sat down and the children played in the sand...

And I thought it would be fun to bury a toy frog :)

And speaking of frog, Monday the children ran upstairs
to me saying, "Something you like is stuck outside! Come see!"
I went out and saw this poor thing...

I looove toads :)

So I helped him out...

As mom said, we don't think this was my prince charming,
so I decided it best not to kiss him ;)

Also, Tuesday I helped Will with a science experiment :)

It's so weird to think he's in 6th grade... doing experiments!
I remember when I was there!!

Anyway, tomorrow is Friday, the 'friend day',
when our friends (we've known 8 years now) come for pizza.
It's going to be their middle child's 12th bday,
so I helped the children blow up balloons
and set them up in order to surprise her tomorrow...

The kids were laughing at how big I liked to blow mine
and were calling them 'zucchini balloons' because of their shape :)

I hope everyone's enjoying their end of summer!
