Young Maiden's Daybook - May 25

Today…
May 25, 2009

Happy Memorial Day!

Outside my window…
Sunny blue sky with lots of clouds.

There's been a break in the rain!

I am thinking…
About graduation... NEXT WEEK!

I am thankful for…

God's forgiveness and mercy.

If we had gotten justice we'd surely be lost;
But we find mercy when we kneel at the cross!
from the song Mercy

I am wearing…
My dark blue dress.

I am reading…
1 Chronicles, Psalms, Proverbs, 1 Peter
"Shadow of the Almighty" by Elisabeth Elliot;
"The Total Money Makeover" by Dave Ramsey;

"Bruised Reed" by Thomas Lambie

I am creating…

Various afghans.
(3 and a baby blanket to be exact)

One of my favorite things…
Music!

For education this week…

Whatever I learn on the way :)

A keeper at home skill I am using/learning...

Motherhood skills.

A spiritual lesson I'm learning...
Dealing with suffering.
I believe I give into being discontent about
my physical ailments more than I like to admit.

A godly character trait I plan to work on…
Still charity, but I desperately need the Lord's help with meekness.

Scripture I am memorizing…
I plan to find a verse sometime this week.
I admit... I didnt' last week :(

I'm praying for…
My poor mommy to feel better :(

She's had a bad cough and now
she's lost her voice completely.
I tried making an appointment, but doctors are closed today.

For the rest of the week…
Whatever might happen today
(something may come up later for Memorial Day),
preparing for family coming next week for my graduation,
resting (fibromayalgia is starting to kick in more lately),
work on a rather difficult fiddle arrangement of
"Guide Me O Thou Great Jehovah" from
Ken Lych's Sacred Solos For Advanced Violin book,
and whatever else the Lord sees fit to add!

A picture I’d like to share...
This was the cake I made for my friend's aunt's graduation reception...

It took me 2 days to make.
Actually, I had hoped to arranged the flowers differently,
but when I made them all, a bunch of them
fell on the ground and got smooshed :(
Thankfully all of the roses survived!!
Have a great week!

A Courageous and Convicting Prayer...

Joe Wright opened a meeting at
KANSAS HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES with this prayer.
I thought it was rather interesting and convicting.
He was quite brave to say this in a HOR,
and a few people walked out during it.
But it spread a lot of conviction to other
Christians who heard it over the radio and such.
I thought I'd share it...

"Heavenly Father, we come before you today
to ask your forgiveness and seek your direction and guidance.
We know your Word says, 'Woe to those who call evil good',
but that's exactly what we've done.
We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and inverted our values.

We confess that we have ridiculed the absolute truth of your Word

and called it moral pluralism.
We have worshipped other gods and called it muilticultural.
We have endorsed perversion and called it an alternative lifestyle.
We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery.
We have neglected the needy and called it self-preservation.
We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare.
We have killed our unborn child and called it choice.
We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable.
We have neglected to discipline our children
and called it builing esteem.
We have abused power and called it political savvy.
We have coveted our neighbor's possesions and called it ambition.
We have polluted the air with profanity
and called it freedom of expression.
We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers

and called it enlightenment.

Search us O God and know our hearts today;
try us and see if there be any wicked way in us;
cleanse us from every sin and set us free.
Guide us and bless these men and women
who have been sent here by the people of Kansas,
and who have been ordained by you, to govern this great state.
Grant them your wisdom to rule and may their
descisions direct us to the center of your will.
I ask it in the name of your son, the living savior,
Jesus Christ. Amen."

Young Maiden's Daybook - May 18

Today…
May 18, 2009

Outside my window…
Very cloudy and sprinkling rain.

It's been very rainy lately.

I am thinking…
Of the song "God's So Good".
It's been in my head all morning.
He sure is good!

I am thankful for…

A great church and church family.

I am wearing…
Khaki skirt and blue flower shirt.

I am reading…
1 Chronicles, Psalms, Proverbs, 1 Peter
"Shadow of the Almighty" by Elisabeth Elliot;
"The Total Money Makeover" by Dave Ramsey;

"Bruised Reed" by Thomas Lambie
"A Woman's Walk With God" by Elizabeth George

I am creating…

Various crocheted projects.

One of my favorite things…
Rain.
It's such a beautiful and refreshing blessing.

For education this week…

Whatever I learn on the way :)

A keeper at home skill I am using/learning...

Motherhood skills.

A spiritual lesson I'm learning...
Being a soul-winner on fire for God.
These are the last times and I've been thinking
how many can I help save from the tribulation and Hell to come?

A godly character trait I plan to work on…
Charity... suffereth long, is kind, envieth not, vaunteth not itself,
isn't puffed up, behaveth not unseemly, seeketh not her own,
is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil, rejoiceth not in iniquity,
rejoiceth in truth, beareth all things, believeth all things,
hopeth all things, endureth all things, and never faileth!

Scripture I am memorizing…
I plan to find a verse sometime this week.

For the rest of the week…
Going to a friend's for supper tonight,
Teaching piano tomorrow, running errands,
grocery shopping, preparing for all the church fellowships,
cleaning, working on my foreign languages,
making a graduation cake for my friend's aunt,
staying at home with the children and Dad during mom's
homeschool conference this weekend,
and a very rainy and stormy week.

A picture I’d like to share...
A little sparrow at one of our small cattail feeders...

Seaside, Strawberries, & Singing...

...oh yea! An alliteration (these can get addicting!)
I just wanted to pop in real quick-like
and post something between my next daybook post. :-)
I've been VERY busy and will be for the next 3 weeks,
and so apologize for not responding to comments
as well as the less amount of posting.
I thought I'd share some quick pictures
of when we went to the beach a week ago...

Wednesday we went out to pick strawberries...

We had plenty for jamming, as well as snacking...

Also, I thought I'd share a video of the song
Stephani and I sang for Mother's Day...
{{YOU CAN STOP THE BACKGROUND MUSIC IN THE SIDEBAR!}}

We had our "Just 'Cuz" fellowship today at church,
this weekend is my mom's homeschool conference,
next Sunday is a special fellowship in honor of
my friend's aunt's college graduation,
(I was asked to decorate the cake!)
the following Saturday is the Ladies' Tea,
and the next Saturday is my graduation.
(family coming and lots of preparation)

After all of this busyness, I hope to make a
more 'uplifting' post about some of the things
the Lord is teaching me lately.
And then really get back to more frequent posting!

I can never seem to find time to sit and finish a book!

I am creating…

Various crocheted projects.

My Irises I've planted 2 years ago finally bloomed.
I'm also awaiting blossoms from my Gladioluses.

Teaching and interacting with children.

A spiritual lesson I'm learning...
Depending on the Lord...
I'm afraid I struggle with a lot of self-confidence.

A godly character trait I plan to work on…
Charity... suffereth long, is kind, envieth not, vaunteth not itself,
isn't puffed up, behaveth not unseemly, seeketh not her own,

Young Maiden's Daybook - May 4

Today…
May 4, 2009

Outside my window…
The gentle breeze is blowing in
a partly cloudy/sunny spring day.

I am thinking…
Though a little too hot for me,
I really like spring! (the breezes, that is.)

I am thankful for…

Getting a reply from Dr.Wile!

He sent a personal notecard
saying thanks for the note and
said he would pray for me on my graduation ;)

I am wearing…
My green paisly dress I finished.

I am reading…
1 Chronicles, Psalms, Proverbs, James, Revelation (KJB);
"Shadow of the Almighty" by Elisabeth Elliot;
"The Total Money Makeover" by Dave Ramsey;

"Bruised Reed" by Thomas Lambie
"A Woman's Walk With God" by Elizabeth George

I am creating…

Various crocheted projects.

I also hope to make some more nightgowns
for all the girls in my family.

One of my favorite things…
Sundays!!!

I love being in God's house hearing what
the Preacher has to preach on!
I love worshiping my God through the singing.

For education this week…

Rosetta Stone Modern Greek.

I also started learning Swahili.

A keeper at home skill I am using/learning...

Teaching and interacting with children.

A spiritual lesson I'm learning...
Honoring and submission to those in authority.

1 John 3

For the rest of the week…
Teaching piano tomorrow,
1/2 & 1/2 fellowship at church Friday,
cleaning, working on my foreign languages,
preparing for Mother's Day,
(Stepahani are singing "A Mother's Prayer".)
and various other things that'll pop up.

A picture I’d like to share...
I've wanted to try putting elastic

in a dress for a while now (instead of ties),
and finally decided to try it with my newest one...

I really liked the way it turned out.
I hope to make them with elastic more often now.

I hope you all have a great week!

My Past Week - Chinese food, Chickadees, and Friends...

This week I spent time running errands,
cleaning, and studying my foreign languages.
Thursday our friends came over and Stephani
and I babysat the children as the moms went out

to the commisary for groceries..
Later, we made supper... lasagna for everyone else,
and I made a chinese dish for Stephani and I...

It was so delicious!
Scallops, onions, green beans, etc...

I also plan to make Kung Po chicken sometime soon.

Since the next day was Friday,
I was glad to return home with them for
the night to help clean up their house some.
Before going to sleep, Stephani and I
stayed up in bed doing character studies.
It was such a wonderful time we had together!

Yesterday, Stephani and I did more Bible studying
as well as worked on our languages.
Later, we made pizza, our usual Friday evening routine.
Last week we beat our record of
making 7 pizzas in a short amount of time...
we finished in 20 MINUTES!! :-)

The children were excited all day by
watching as baby chickadees were learning to fly.
They got very close to them, I heard...

This morning, we heard chirpping in the garage.
By the sound of it, it seemed to be
coming from my dad's motorcycle!
I searched the entire engine with a flashlight
and, sure enough, I found a baby chickadee
stuck in the bottom of his engine!!!
It was so sad to think he was stuck there
during the whole night!
He was in an almost unreachable spot,
but I struggled and finally got him out...

I took him outside to see if he was injured,
but he must not have been since he flew off so fast.
He started singing and chirping like crazy
on one of our low branches... he seemed happy to be free!

Well, I hope to go listen to Dr.Paul Chappel
and finish a dress today. (I'll share it soon!)
It's the first dress I made with elastic instead of a tie :)
I hope you all have a great weekend!

"Watch therefore: for ye know not
what hour your Lord doth come."
