Young Maiden's Daybook - April 27

Today…
April 27, 2009

Outside my window…
A gorgeous, clear, spring day!

I am thinking…
"It's hard to fall when you're on your knees."
I saw it a few weeks ago on a church sign.
Powerful quote, I love it!

I am thankful for…

My wonderful family!
How I love spending my time with them!!
It's so bittersweet seeing my siblings growing up.

I am wearing…
Kahaki skirt and blue flower shirt.

I am reading…
1 Chronicles, Psalms, Proverbs, Zechariah, Hebrews (KJB);
"Shadow of the Almighty" by Elisabeth Elliot;
"The Total Money Makeover" by Dave Ramsey;

"Bruised Reed" by Thomas Lambie
Hoping to begin reading this week...
"A Woman's Walk With God" by Elizabeth George

I am creating…

Various crocheted projects.

One of my favorite things…
Coffee :)
However, my stomach is very caffiene sensitive,
so I cannot drink it as often as I'd like.
(Which is a blessing in disguise...
so I don't get too addicted to it!)

For education this week…

Rosetta Stone Modern Greek.

A keeper at home skill I am using/learning...

Teaching and interacting with children.

A spiritual lesson I'm learning...
Becoming a Titus 2 and Proverbs 31 young woman.

A godly character trait I plan to work on…
Charity... suffereth long, is kind, envieth not, vaunteth not itself,
isn't puffed up, behaveth not unseemly, seeketh not her own,
is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil, rejoiceth not in iniquity,
rejoiceth in truth, beareth all things, believeth all things,
hopeth all things, endureth all things, and never faileth!

Scripture I am memorizing…
The last 3 verses of 1 Peter 4.
Then I'll start on 1 John 3.

For the rest of the week…
I have an Endocrinologist appointment Thursday,
Suzie goes to the vet on Wednesday,
Park Day on Friday, and working on Modern Greek.

A picture I’d like to share..
A baby blanket I made for a lady I know...

And another doily I crocheted mom the other day...

I hope you all enjoy your week!!

Rest

The Lord sure has some funny ways of
encouraging His children!!
As I was reading an old book today,
I found a bookmark in it with a poem.

While so many times,
the joy of the Lord is what sustains me,
there are some times I do get discouraged
with having health problems.
The past few days have been some of those
"down" days... but the Lord has always
lifted my spirits every time I go through those!!!
This time, was with a poem...

REST

I would not ask Thee WHY
My path should be
Through strange and stony ways-
Thou leadest me!

I would not ask Thee HOW
Loss worketh gain,
Knowing some day soon-
All shall be plain.

My heart would never doubt
Thy love and care,
However heavy seems
The cross I bear.

Nor would I, Father, ask
My lot to choose,
Lest, seeking selfish ease,
Thy best I lose.

Giver of every gift,
Thy choice is best,
All-wise Eternal Love-
In Thee I rest.

Yeilding to Thy wise hand,
Safe in Thy will;
Not asking WHY or HOW-
Let me be still.

Looking on things unseen,
By faith I see
Glory exceeding great
Worketh for me.

-by Grace E. Troy

"My brethren, count it all joy when
ye fall into divers temptations (trials);
Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience."
James 1:2-4

"For our light affliction, which is but for a moment,
worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;
While we look not at the things which are seen,
but at the things which are not seen:
for the things which are seen are temporal;
but the things which are not seen are eternal."
2 Corinthians 4:17-18

Our Dog's New Look and a Project...

It's funny when you have a dog
with so much hair that when you have her hair cut,
she looks like a completely different!!
BEFORE:

AFTER:

I like her much better with this shorter hair.
Just thought I'd share Suzie's new 'do'.

Also, here's a doily I whipped up
the other day while resting in bed...

I'm almost finished with another one,
but it's a different color.

I hope everyone's week is going well.

Young Maiden's Daybook - April 20

I apologize for posting so late today.
My dad arrived home late last night,
this morning we were visiting with him
and then needed to take our dog to the groomer.
VERY busy morning!!!

Today…
April 20, 2009

Outside my window…
Very sunny with lots of clouds.
I woke up to hearing the lawn maintenance men
using the weed wackers.

I am thinking…
About what kind of sandwich to make for lunch.

I am thankful for…

My new instrument strings.
I got fiddle instead of violin and
I think I like them a lot better :)
My guitar ones are handmade
phospher bronze... love them!

I am wearing…
My blue ribbon print square neck dress.

I am reading…
1 Chronicles, Psalms, Proverbs, Zechariah, Hebrews (KJB);
"Shadow of the Almighty" by Elisabeth Elliot;
"The Total Money Makeover" by Dave Ramsey;

I am creating…

Various crocheted projects.

One of my favorite things…
The joy of the Lord!

Even though I have health issues,
I have so much to be happy about
in the Lord, even though I don't feel well.

For education this week…

Rosetta Stone Modern Greek.

A keeper at home skill I am using/learning…

Trying to rise early!!

A spiritual lesson I'm learning...
Meditating on God's Word.
Even when God says to 'stop and meditate' (Selah),
do we ever really stop? And actually meditate?

A godly character trait I plan to work on…
Charity... suffereth long, is kind, envieth not, vaunteth not itself,
isn't puffed up, behaveth not unseemly, seeketh not her own,
is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil, rejoiceth not in iniquity,
rejoiceth in truth, beareth all things, believeth all things,
hopeth all things, endureth all things, and never faileth!

Scripture I am memorizing…
1 Peter 4. (Almost finished)

Also, I set a new goal of hitting the 200
mark this year in Scripture memorizing.
I'm at 65 now.

For the rest of the week…
Teach piano on Tuesday (if I'm feeling better),
resting at home (overdid it last week... body's paying for it)
and work intensely in my Modern Greek.

A picture I’d like to share..

2 of my senoir pictures...

Have a great week!

Week In Review...

This week was a very busy one, it seems.
On Sunday, Pastor had a candy hunt for the
children after the morning service...

The candy at our house is almost gone!
Thankfully, the children shared with mom and I :-)

Tuesday, I think, Will and I sat down to watch
Kent Hovind together... gotta love his sessions!

We sent out my graduation invitations on Thursday...

Among the invitations was one sent to Dr.Wile :-) (of Apologia).
I doubt he'll come, but I sent him one anyhow, along with
a note of graditute for his science curriculum that I enjoyed so much!

Yesterday, Stpehani and I made, not only pizza,
but some sugar cookie dough for the children.
We thought they'd enjoy cutting out their own cookies...

They had fun, as did I!
Each one made 3, then Stephani and I
shaped the remaining dough into balls.
There ended up being more than expected!

Today I babysat while mom went out with
other ladies from the church.
She was so sweet and brought me home a new jacket!!!

I love the embroidery ...

She, also, brought me a new large Yankee candle jar

and a little porcelin bird box!
Well, I hope you all had a great week
and have a wonderful weekend.
Today I plan to spend some time writing a few letters
and continue working on my Greek.
Tomorrow is Second Coming Sunday at our church!

(Below is the portion of 1 Peter 4

that I've been able to memorize this week...)
"Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh,
arm yourselves likewise with the same mind:
for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;
That he no longer should live the rest of his time
in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.
For the time past of our life may suffice us
to have wrought the will of the Gentiles,
when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine,
revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:
Wherein they think it strange that ye run not
with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:
Who shall give account to him that
is ready to judge the quick and the dead.
For for this cause was the gospel preached
also to them that are dead, that they might be
judged according to men in the flesh,
but live according to God in the spirit.
But the end of all things is at hand:
be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.
And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves:
for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.
Use hospitality one to another without grudging.
As every man hath received the gift,
even so minister the same one to another,
as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God;
if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth:
that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ,
to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
Beloved, think it not strange concerning
the fiery trial which is to try you,
as though some strange thing happened unto you:
But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings;
that, when his glory shall be revealed,
ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye;
for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you:
on their part he is evil spoken of,
but on your part he is glorified."
Verses 1-14

It's cloudy and gloomy,

maybe we'll get some rain??

I am thinking…
I should've found something to post before this...

now I have 2 daybooks in a row!

I am thankful for…

God's wonderful love!
I'm overwhemled to think that the
only One who really knows everything about me
is the One who loves me more than anyone!

I am wearing…
brown cotton long sleeve dress

I am reading…
1 Chronicles, Psalms, Proverbs, Zechariah, Hebrews (KJB);
"Shadow of the Almighty" by Elisabeth Elliot;
"The Total Money Makeover" by Dave Ramsey

One of my favorite things…
That God answers prayers!
I'm so glad He takes the time to listen
and truly cares about us!

For education this week…

A keeper at home skill I am using/learning…

Trying to rise early!! I'd prefer about 6:00.
(I'm finally able to move at 7:30 some!)

I've finally decided I want to memorize a whole chapter!
I plant to work on 1 Peter 4.

For the rest of the week…

for some fiddle and guitar strings, finish a dress,
make more nightgowns (I found a pattern I love!),

A
picture I’d like to share...

The past 6 years of Stephani and I...

What a blessing to have a special earthly friend for so many years!

A keeper at home skill I am using/learning…

Trying to rise early!!
I'm afraid I've always been a late sleeper...
especially since I first hit my early teens.

A spiritual lesson I'm learning...
Meditating on God's Word.
Even when God says to 'stop and meditate' (Selah),
do we ever really stop? And actually meditate?

A godly character trait I plan to work on…
Charity... suffereth long, is kind, envieth not, vaunteth not itself,
isn't puffed up, behaveth not unseemly, seeketh not her own,
is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil, rejoiceth not in iniquity,

hopeth all things, endureth all things, and never faileth!

Scripture I am memorizing…

"Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure,
having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his.
And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity."

1 Peter 4:11
"If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God;
if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth:

Friends Are Family

Today was a usual Friday
of having our close friends coming over for pizza :)
We had a cake mix that needed to be used,
so I thought I'd make a 'just because' cake.
I was glad with the way it turned out...

There is a face designed for each person in both families...

and everyone ate their own face!
We've known them for 7 years now,
and we truly are like family to eachother!

Anyway, just thought I'd share the cake!
Today was park day and I was able to get some

senior pictures in my cap and gown.
Stephani and I worked on Modern Greek together
and I finished Advanced Biology!!!

I hope you all have a great weekend!
I'll see you all Monday!
Oh yes, and I came across this verse in my
special time with my Beloved today...

"But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions,
do the work of an evangelist,
make full proof of thy ministry."
2 Timothy 4:5
