Young Maiden's Daybook
Today…
February 23, 2009
Outside my window…
The sun is shining a little too high in the sky
for me to have just woken up :)
I am thinking…
Of how good the Lord really is to me!
I am thankful for…
The Lord's promise to help us through our trials!
I am wearing…
Khaki skirt and brown mock turtleneck,
bare feet and bed head.
I am reading…
1 Kings, Psalms, Proverbs, Isaiah, Philippians;
"The Hiding Place" by Corrie TenBoom
"How To Pray" by R.A. Torrey
I am creating…
More crocheted afghans.
One of my favorite things…
Instruments. What would I do without them?
For education this week…
Economics, Government, Literary Analysis,
Modern Greek, Advanced Biology, etc...
(This past Thursday, in Biology, I had to take my blood
and test which type I am.)
A keeper at home skill I am using…
Other than making suppers,
I hope to bake something extra yummy!
A spiritual lesson I’m learning…
Self-denial.
A godly character trait I plan to work on…
Charity.
Scripture I am memorizing…
Reviewing all those I've memorized.
Maybe something new will come up this week.
I am praying for…
God to send more missionaries.
For the rest of the week…
The calendar is blank! I don't teach piano tomorrow,
church is Wednesday, and I've plenty of schoolwork to keep me!
Oh yes, I really hope to respond to comments SOON!
A picture I’d like to share…

The Past Couple of Weeks...
Thank you all, so much, for the kind comments for my b-day :)
It was such a pleasant surprise when I found so many comments
in my email from I post that I hadn't posted!!! lol
I thought I'd share a few things that have been
going on around here the past two weeks.
About two weeks ago, we went to the beach.
Mom and the children ran around with Suzie...
Here's a personal favorite of Carolynne :)
I enjoyed watching the waves,
and I got some possible senior pictures done.
This week, we've visited with our friends every day,
as Daddy was away and their daddy is in Iraq.
Tuesday, we had supper at their house...
The moms enjoying supper while looking at homeschool catalogs.
Stephani and I did a lot of schoolwork as well as
talking and encouraging each other this week.
I thank the Lord He gave me such a great earthly friend!
Yesterday, they sat with the younger children
so mom and I could go out to Red Lobster...
my annual birthday lunch!
We had a wonderful time together, talking and eating!
HereI am later with my cake
(trying not to blush from the singing!)...
And all of the children made me cards and
gave me a few gifts from the heart...
It was really sweet!
From my parents, I recieved a lot of
cake decorating tools as well as a cake book!
(I hope to post pictures on Monday.)
This was funny timing, since a few days before,
I was telling her that I was planning to purchase
them so I could learn/practice my cake decorating skills!
Later on, Stephani and I enjoyed looking for
good, conservative, Christian music to purchase
as the moms sat at the table enjoying tea...
Tonight is our annual Hot Dog Banquet at church.
Until then, I hope to rest today.
I hope you all had a great week
and have a wonderful weekend!

A "Sweet" Interuption...
This is Ally's mama,
"hacking" into her blog,
to wish Ally a very happy 16th birthday.
We are forever thankful to God above
for trusting us with you to love!
You are such a blessing to us, Honey!
We love you so much!

A Young Maiden's Daybook...
Today…
February 16, 2009
Outside my window…
The sun is shining brightly
in the mid 30s!! (Love it!)
I am thinking…
Of how wonderful my Jesus is!
I am thankful for…
The privilege of prayer!
What an honor to approach the
throne of God Almighty!
How the angels must marvel that
many times we take this gift so lightly!
I am wearing…
My green checkered dress
(So happy to be back in dresses!)
I am reading…
2 Samuel, Psalms, Proverbs, Isaiah, Ephesians;
"The Hiding Place" by Corrie TenBoom
"How To Pray" by R.A. Torrey
I am creating...
Nothing particular this week.
Maybe some bread?
One of my favorite things…
My mp3 player :)
(Filled with conserative, God-honoring music!)
For education this week…
The usual routine.
I also plan on doing extra studying from a
Nuclear Physics book (World of the Atom vol.2)
that I checked out from the liabrary! Ü
A keeper at home skill I am using/learning…
Trying to keep my schedule flexible.
I tend to get my own schedule down,
get very focused on it, and am not
very good with a 'change in plans' for the day :)
A spiritual lesson I’m learning…
Humility.
"And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased;
and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted."
Matthew 23:12
A godly character trait I plan to work on…
Charity :)
Scripture I am memorizing…
In addition to reviewing my other ones,
I came across a passage I wanted to add:
"And in that day thou shalt say, O LORD, I will praise thee:
though thou wast angry with me,
thine anger is turned away, and thou comfortedst me.
Behold, God is my salvation;
I will trust, and not be afraid:
for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song;
he also is become my salvation.
Therefore with joy shall ye draw
water out of the wells of salvation."
Isaiah 12:1-3
I am praying for…
Our upcoming King James Bible Conference.
For the rest of the week…
Lots of schoolwork, teach piano tomorrow,
Park Day on Friday, my birthday (*Ü*),
a trip to Red Lobster with my mother, and the
church's Hot Dog Banquet Saturday.
A picture I’d like to share…

Be God's Valentine...
BE GOD'S VALENTNE
©hskubesgal 2006
Valentine's Day is a day we show our love to the ones we love.
We usually do this from the simplest form...
like a hug, a card, helping out, an "I love you",
Maybe even some chocolates or some other thoughtful gift.
(Though EVERY day we ought to be showing our love,
by giving a hug, an "I love you", helping out with a good attitude, etc...)
But how do we show our love to God?
Some would say, 'I stay in prayer and devotions'
or 'I have a great attitude' or 'I'm kind to others'.
Those are good answers and DO show love,
but they're not enough.
If we love God the way we should,
we'd want to do everything we can to show our love.
Below, are some other ways to show our love for God.
1. Try hard to do His will.
This can be a very challenging thing to do!
And He knows it doesn't, necessarily, come easy.
But when we truly love Him, it becomes easier to do.
And He'll help us and cause us to triumph!
"If ye love me, keep my commandments."
John 14:15
2. "Serve the Lord with gladness..."
Serving the Lord is one thing.
Doing it with gladness is another!
For example, when an authority over us
requests us to do something it is, in all actuality, God asking us!
If our parents ask us, God really is the One
because He says to obey our parents
and we're to do it with a good heart!
We can really show our love for God when we
honor and obey our authorities with respect.
"And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily,
as to the Lord, and not unto men;"
Colossians 3:23
3. Spend time with Him.
Do we love our family and friends? Of course!
Don't we want to spend time with the ones we love? Of course!
What about God?
Just like spending time with friends and family
shows and increases our love for them,
spending time with God shows and deepens our love for Him.
We can do this by spending time in prayer and His Word.
He loves us and wants to spend time with us,
and He always has time!
Do we want to spend our time with God?
Do we 'have time' for God?
Do we love spending time with God?
"As the hart panteth after the water brooks,
so panteth my soul after thee, O God."
Psalms 42:1
"Delight thyself also in the LORD;
and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart."
Psalms 37:4
4. Put Him 1st in our lives.
By doing this, we show our love for God!
It shows Him we love Him so much that we're
willing to 'die to ourselves'
& put Him in control of and first place in our lives.
We all make the choice of who to put first,
and when we choose God,
it shows our love Him more than anyone else.
"No man can serve two masters:
for either he will hate the one, and love the other;
or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other.
Ye cannot serve God and mammon."
Matthew 6:24
What are some other ways we can show our love for God?
Do we do them when we know what they are?
May we strive harder today, and everyday
to show our true love for God!
Remember, He loves YOU so much,
He gave His ONLY son to DIE for you!
Love Him back!
Just as he showed His love for YOU,
show YOUR love for HIM!!
Let's not forget God!
Happy Valentines Day to all!
Especially to my True Love.
What a wonderful day to tell our Beloved we love Him!
(Everyday is, really, but today especially,
in the atmosphere of love, let’s keep Jesus first!)
My Jesus, I Love Thee
My Jesus, I love Thee, I know Thou art mine;
For Thee all my follies of sin I resign;
My gracious Redeemer, my Savior art Thou:
If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus ‘tis now.
I love Thee because Thou hast first loved me,
And purchased my pardon on Calvary’s tree;
I love Thee for wearing the thorns on Thy brow;
If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus ‘tis now.
I’ll love Thee in life, I will love Thee in death,
And praise Thee as long as Thou lendest me breath;
And say when the death dew lies cold on my brow;
If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus ‘tis now.
In mansions of glory and endless delight,
I’ll ever adore Thee in heaven so bright;
I’ll sing with the glittering drown on my brow;
If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus ‘tis now.
words: William R. Featherston
music: Adoniram J. Gordon
Remember to spend some intimate time with Jesus today!

Did You Recieve Your Letter Today?
It was last month and I woke up in the morning somewhat late.
Instantly, I was thinking of everything I needed to do.
I started doing them hastily,
but then remembered I needed my quiet time.
"Well," I thought, "maybe I could just recite some verses
while I work and that will count.
I'll make up for it and double it tomorrow...
It's really not THAT bad if I skip ONE day?!"
"Yes it is!" said that Holy Spirit 'poke'. (those sure can hurt!)
I knew I needed to be in God's Word
and have set aside time with Him.
So I apologized in my prayer for my attitude
and sat down to read what He had for me.
Later that day, as I came back from the mailbox,
I noticed a letter from a friend addressed to me.
Happy and excited, I opened it on my walk back to the house.
I loved reading what she had to say
and seeing what new things were happening with her.
But when I reached the house... I had an epiphany! :)
I was so excited and pleased with this letter from my friend,
but I was hesitant to read what the Almighty God,
my Heavenly Father, my Savior and Friend wrote for me!
Why was I anticipating a letter from a friend everyday,
when my Beloved Jesus has something new to show me daily?
OUCH!
That was another Holy Spirit 'poke'!
Not with the intent to devalue friendships
but what is a letter from an earthly friend,
compared to something that Lord Jehovah Himself wrote to me?
How much more should I treasure and appreciate
God's Word than anything else on earth?
Why, I should be waking up every morning anticipating
"What new things will God show me in His Word?!";
"What does my Lord have for me today in His Word?!"
I read about all He did and went through;
how He's always there to comfort and guide me;
and that He's mindful of me every waking moment!!!!!
His Word is a love letter and so much more!
How we should love, treasure, and really study it more.
So I ask you...
Did you recieve your Letter from the Lord today?
